About Us
Primeros Pasos® offers our high quality, child centered, Spanish language immersion program at three campuses in San Francisco: Glen Park, Silver Park, and Noe Valley.
We know that young children are sensory motor learners. They learn best by doing, therefore we are a child-centered program. As a Play Based curriculum (Vygotsky, Stanford, et. al.) we carefully create learning opportunities through a variety of discovery and play opportunities in each age group. We value ongoing training for our staff in topics such as children's temperaments, health, language, the classroom environment, open ended materials, and the like.
Glen Park's "sweet spot" is infants, toddlers and young preschoolers. Its small size of 12 - 14 students creates a warm and nurturing environment especially for the youngest learners to grow and thrive. Most children transfer to our Silver Park campus (or another larger Preschool) by age 3.5 or so in order to enjoy a larger class size in preparation for Kindergarten.
Silver Park has 4 class groups and an overall capacity of 72 students. Our infant classroom is for babies aged 4 to 24 months. Our Young Preschool classroom is for children aged 2 ~3.5 years, or when ready for Preschool. Our robust "real Preschool" classroom is for children aged ~3.5 years onward to when ready for PreK / K. Our PreK / K classroom serves children approximately 4.5 years to 6 years not yet enrolled in Kindergarten. The curriculum provides school skills appropriate to fully prepare children for success in Kindergarten.
Noe Valley has 2 age groups in an overall capacity of 40 students. Our young preschool classroom is for 12 children aged 18 - 30 months, and our 2 preschool groups are for ages 3 - 5+ years not yet enrolled in Kindergarten. Readiness for the Preschool group includes greater independence and self-regulation, interest in deeper learning, and toilet learning. The curriculum provides children with a myriad of skills appropriate to fully prepare children for success in Kindergarten.
Our facility features an indoor sensory room, as well as an outdoor patio. Each of the cohorts uses all spaces on a dedicated daily schedule.
Our campuses are fully licensed by the state of California. Our Silver Park Infant License number is 384003077 and our Silver Park Preschool License number is 384003076. Our most recent annual surprise inspection by the State of California on March 20, 2023 passed with flying colors, as it does each year. Our Noe Valley License number is 384004764.
We are a year-round, full day program staffed by loving teachers who have a "heart to work with children."
