Our Daily Schedule
Primeros Pasos is open Monday – Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. We offer full day schedule options only. Full time schedule is Monday through Friday. We offers two part time, full day options: Monday, Wednesday and Friday, OR Tuesday and Thursday. Please note that we cannot offer drop-in care, nor custom schedules with other combinations of days.
Our Toddlers & Preschoolers
Toddlers (ages 2 and up) and Preschoolers (ages 3 and up) eat breakfast, lunch and snacks together and we see many benefits of the mixed age grouping. The older children learn empathy and other skills by interacting with the younger children, and the younger children develop wonderfully with the example of the older children in their midst.
Toddlers and Preschoolers nap once per day. Diapers are changed regularly throughout the day as needed. Primeros Pasos staff will fully support parents' toilet training efforts when they begin at home, but we do not initiate potty training on our own.
Our staff logs meals, nap times and duration, and diaper changes (as applicable) on a daily basis for parents’ information.
Toddlers and Preschoolers enjoy fresh air at minimum twice per day. In the morning we are outside in our yard three times a week, and twice a week we walk to nearby parks for our outings. We also enjoy daily afternoon fresh-air play time in our large and sunny backyard. Additionally, we have a large garden plot at the nearby Community Garden, which the children enjoy visiting, tending to the plants, and learning about growing food (and eating healthy picnics!)
Other Toddler and Preschooler activities include:
• Story and book time
• Music, instruments and dancing time
• Gross motor development, such as exercises, basketball, push and riding toys
• Cognitive motor development such as puzzles, tools, and blocks
• Fine motor development with art, scissors, and threading beads
• Dramatic play such as kitchen, house, and dress up
• Circle time to explore counting; sorting; alphabet; colors
• Daily "jobs" such as weather checker and line leader
• Mother Goose Time Curriculum with separate level activities for Toddlers and Preschoolers
